The opportunity

Electrolux faced the daunting task of aligning all its diverse home appliance applications under a single unified codebase. The vision though, for their worldwide customers, was clear – a seamless unified IoT experience.

Qvik's role

We’d already had our sleeves rolled up working closely with Electrolux since the spring of 2021. Heavily involved in making important decisions. Identifying the right technology choices. Clarifying a precise pathway for the upcoming merged codebase. And, all the time, we were continuing to deliver app experiences and stay tuned in to the constantly evolving world of connected appliances.

The solution

Because of the complex requirements for sharing the business logic, API integrations and unit tests between iOS and Android, the Qvik team explored, tested and developed a tech stack solution based on the Kotlin Multiplatform (KMM). As well as app development, the solution resulted in a single platform to manage all of Electrolux’s connected products.

The outcome

Following the release of our new apps – which offered support for all appliances across every single category – the Electrolux Appstore rating spoke for itself, going from 2.4 to 4.3. A very tidy improvement.
